Back by Popular Demand
Did you notice that “Long Strange Trip” is on the ARE schedule once more, beginning January 7th?
It was one of the most widely attended Sunday ARE series and we are honoring requests, by those who missed all or parts of it, that it be repeated at the 11am RE slot through March. The program will present the history of Unitarian and Universalist thought from the beginning of the Christian era to what we know today as Unitarian Universalism. Each lecture and discussion stands alone, so attend one, some, or all. Moderated by Bonnie Norton.
Also back on the programming schedule is “Faith Like a River”, with sessions beginning January 31st . Watch for details in Happenings.
Aston Gardens hosts a monthly UUCOV Adult Education Program; Jaye Williams will lead the Tuesday, January 30th discussion, 10:00am – 11:00am. UUCOVers and friends are welcome to join the sessions; they are held in the Ballroom, 1000 Aston Gardens Drive, Venice.
Start 2018 With a Great Read
We get to experience the popular UU Common Read times two this year! For those of you new to UU, each year our denomination selects a read and congregations are urged to read, discuss and otherwise explore the topic. This year, two books were selected. Our first read is “Centering: Navigating Race, Authenticity, and Power in Ministry” by Mitra Rahmeena. We will have copies available to borrow starting on Sunday, December 31. You may also purchase through online booksellers.
Stay tuned for the programming around this read starting in January. More about this in Social Justice (below).
