Welcome to this special place! I am so glad you have found your way here!
This congregation, one of over a thousand Unitarian Universalist congregations in the United States, fervently promotes the inherent worth and dignity of all people. Historically, our movement arose out of the liberal streams of Judeo-Christianity, although in more recent times we have drawn practices from many of the world's religions and philosophies. Nonetheless, we continue to value the search for truth, meaning, and purpose in life, in both the contemplative and active aspects of our natures. Consequently, there is a strong social justice component to our faith, one based squarely on a commitment to the rights of all beings and to the sanctity of our planet.
The people of this church aspire to be welcoming and inclusive. The richness of our community provides, for many of us, a spiritual oasis that calls us to a higher plane of awareness and practice. Since about 90% of all Unitarian Universalists were not raised as such, we were - perhaps like you are at this very moment - seeking an open and progressive community which will be accepting and supportive of who you are and who you believe you ought to be.
So, explore our website, write or call for further info, and visit us at the corner of Pinebrook and Edmondson in Venice. Perhaps you will find this open and affirming, welcoming and inclusive community of seekers to be just what you've been looking for!
