Social Justice
At UUCOV, we strive to bring healing to the world through social justice ministry by means of the following types of programs:
Social Service: hands-on help and financial donations
Social Witness: publicly addressing justice issues
Social Education: discussion, study, and reflection about justice issues
Social Action: organized action to remedy injustice
Community Outreach
We provide volunteer opportunities such as:
making sleeping mats for the homeless here at UUCOV, collecting food for our local South County Food Bank,
and donating a monthly offering to local community organizations.

Social Justice Alliance of the Florida Suncoast
In 2023, UCOV was a founder of SJAFS. Our first event was the Right to Read Festival, held on our campus in February 2024. View video highlights of the festival HERE. We organize monthly Justice Socials to network and plan future activities. Please see our home page for upcoming featured events and Justice Socials, and join us to support our schools, care for the environment, economic justice, gender equity, access to health care, and many other quality of life issues.
Civic Action
The Social Justice Team provides information on nonpartisan political issues, both locally and nationally. We also encourage actions, such as writing to your legislators, signing petitions, and voting.
Green Sanctuary
In order to implement our seventh principle and promote good stewardship of our planet, Green Sanctuary leads our congregation in modeling sustainable living by establishing an eco-friendly garden on campus, encouraging composting, hosting meatless dinners, and providing educational opportunities with movies and/or speakers.
LGBTQIA Welcoming Congregation
UUCOV is a Welcoming Congregation for people of all sexual orientations, genders, and gender identities.
