Interest Groups

UUCOV has several interest groups to choose from that meet either monthly or weekly, depending on the group.

socratescolorSocrates Cafe – A gathering where people of different backgrounds discuss important ideas and issues. Each 90-minute session begins with a topic that forms the basis for thoughtful discussion reflecting participants’ unique experiences and perspectives. The gathering provides an opportunity to have an intelligent and stimulating conversation in an atmosphere of support and respect.  All are welcome! Mat Making – Mat-making meets on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10:00am – 12:00pm in Waters Hall B. These sleeping mats for the homeless are made from recycled grocery bags. Finished mats are currently being delivered to the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition. Arts and Crafts Group – Bring any art supplies you have that you would like to work with, or we will have extra that you can use if you don’t have any. Anyone can make art and express their unique creativity, whether one uses paint, pencil, pen, ink, collage, etc. We will share our techniques with each other and have an occasional demo by one of our groups. Writer’s Group

The UUCOV Writers’ Group meets on the first and third Monday of each month. We welcome members and friends of UUCOV who wish to share (read) some of their writings. Readings may be up to 15 or more minutes, depending on the number of participants. Attendees are not required to read at each meeting and comments by other members must be constructive only.  Readers may choose to receive no comments if they wish. Walking Group

Meets, seasonally, every Monday at 9:00am at various local parks and walking trails. Check the calendar for each week’s location.

 

Grounds Group

The Grounds Group meets the first and third Thursdays of each month from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Gather in front of the sanctuary. We are looking forward to keeping our campus grounds healthy, beautiful, and vibrant. People of all ages, interests, and abilities are welcome.
